Nashville has been in Avant’s territory from the start. The old Avant website said it plainly, “Servicing Nashville and Surrounding Area,” and one of the Google reviews comes from a family who had just moved from California to Nashville.

How far into town

The near side of Davidson County is close. Measured in a straight line from central Hendersonville, Old Hickory is 3.5 miles away, Madison about 6, Hermitage 7.5 and Donelson just under 10, most of them a straight run down Gallatin Pike or Old Hickory Boulevard. Downtown is 13 miles as the crow flies and about 18 by road, over Vietnam Veterans Boulevard and I-65. Green Hills and Belle Meade, across town, are closer to 20.

The Census Bureau counted 721,074 people in Metro Nashville in its July 2025 estimate. That number leaves out the small cities that sit inside the county with governments of their own, such as Belle Meade, Forest Hills, Oak Hill and Berry Hill. All four are inside the ring too.

Power, internet and permits

Nashville Electric Service powers the whole county. For internet, Google Fiber, AT&T Fiber in parts of the city, and Xfinity all serve Nashville, and United Communications counts Davidson County in its footprint. Whichever one reaches the house, the fiber and the network inside are Avant’s part.

Permits go through Metro Codes. Its electrical permit application has a separate section for low-voltage devices, covering burglar and fire alarms, phone lines, TV and video lines, and lighting and sound, and Metro registers low-voltage installers alongside master electricians.

Answers

Nashville: questions

How far into Nashville does Avant go?

Across nearly all of Davidson County. Old Hickory, Madison and Hermitage are under 8 straight-line miles from central Hendersonville, downtown is 13, and Green Hills and Belle Meade, on the far side of town, are about 20, still well inside the 30-mile ring.

Do I need a Metro permit for low-voltage work in Nashville?

Some jobs need one. Metro Codes’ electrical permit application has its own section for low-voltage devices: burglar and fire alarms, phone lines, TV and video lines, and lighting and sound. Metro also registers low-voltage installers. Call Metro Codes at (615) 862-6500 to confirm a particular job.

Which internet providers can a Nashville home network run on?

Whichever one reaches the house. Google Fiber, AT&T Fiber in parts of the city and Xfinity all serve Nashville, and United Communications lists Davidson County in its footprint. Avant’s work starts where the provider’s line ends: the cabling, the rack and the Wi-Fi access points.

Does Avant work in Belle Meade, Forest Hills, Oak Hill and Berry Hill?

Yes. Those four are separate cities with their own governments inside Davidson County, and each one sits within 30 miles of Hendersonville, so they are part of Avant’s service area along with the rest of Nashville.
